how to make mummy meatballs with puff pastry
Unroll the puff pastry dough and lay it flay on a piece of parchment paper. Lightly squeeze the perforated edges together and fold the dough in half. Fold the piece of parchment paper over and lightly press the dough until you achieve the initial thickness.
Using a pizza cutter, cut thin strips of the dough (the long way). Once all pieces of dough have been cut, you can start making the mummies!
Grab the meatballs that you have already formed and start wrapping the thin pastry strip around the meatball. Don’t get stressed if it doesn’t look perfect – there is no rhyme or reason to how the mummy gets wrapped.
Love appetizers?
If you are a fan of appetizers, I’ve got some great recipes for you. These Smashed Potatoes are the best -my kids absolutely love them. And, bonus, everyone gets to add whatever toppings they would like. It’s a win for everyone!
Another tasty appetizer is my Black Bean and Mango Salsa. Just make sure to get a bag of lime flavored chips, they are the perfect addition to this salsa.
Frequently asked questions
What should I serve with these meatballs?
If you want to stick with the Halloween theme, you should serve these meatballs with a bowl of “blood” (aka marinara sauce). This one is my absolute favorite!
Can I make these mummy meatballs ahead of time?
You sure can – it will save you time on the craziness of Halloween night. I would make the meatballs ahead of time and store them in the fridge overnight.
