We took our first trip since the pandemic and we went to Duluth! It was so much fun to just get away. We stayed at Pier B and had an amazing time.
The Best Side Dishes
Duluth is always such a fun place to visit. As a kid, my parents always took us there and we had so much fun. It’s really neat being able to take my boys now and make new memories!
We skipped rocks on the beach and biked all over Duluth. We stayed up too late and (sort of) slept in. The boys are their weight in candy (and ice cream) and had so much fun.
Pier B had an awesome pool that overlooked the Lift Bridge. The kids were so excited to swim! They were literally skipping down the hallway, squealing with joy.
It was one of those moments where I was just so thankful. Thankful for our health, thankful for my little family and thankful that things are becoming a little more normal.
Whenever I get back from vacation, I always am ready to eat some good home-cooked meals. These Healthy Turkey Burger Bowls are easy to throw together and are absolutely delicious. The components are each made separately, so everyone can choose their own toppings for their burger bowl!
Seasoned Sour Cream (dairy free)
You might be wondering why I chose to make this dressing dairy free. Well, two reasons. The first one is that I have recently become dairy free myself (it only took me 36 years to realize that dairy was the reason my stomach constantly hurt). Also, I absolutely love the taste and consistency of Forager Project Sour Cream – it is the perfect base for a dressing!
Why a Burger Bowl?
If you are looking to eat a little healthier, substituting lettuce for a hamburger bun is a great switch. Or, if you are like me and just love lettuce, then you get to have more of what you like!
Also, bowls are great when you have picky eaters or are feeding a crowd. This way, everyone can choose what toppings they want. AND no one (read: me) is making a second mel.
How to Make Turkey Burger Bowl Salad with Seasoned Sour Cream (dairy free)
- Brown the ground turkey until it is no longer pink in the middle.
- Add the Lawry’s seasoned salt to the ground turkey.
- While the ground turkey is cooking, mix together the ingredients for the burger sauce in a small bowl.
- Once the turkey is fully cooked, assemble the burger bowls.
- Layer the bowls with lettuce on the bottom. Then, add the ground turkey, tomatoes, onions and pickles.
- Top the Burger Bowls with the burger sauce and enjoy!
Turkey Burger Bowl Salad Toppings
The nice thing with bowls is that everyone can top theirs with whatever they like. I always set out bowls with all of the different toppings and let my kids make their own burger bowls. I find that when I do this, they are more likely to try new things.
Here are our favorite toppings (and the brands that we prefer to use)
- Alexia Seasoned Waffle Fries
- cherry tomatoes
- avocado
- French’s Fried Onions
- Grillo’s Pickle Chips

Tips for Involving Kids
- Have your kids help you measure out all of the ingredients in the burger sauce.
- Let your kids chop up all of the burger toppings with their very own knives.
- There is always going to be a mess when you cook with your kids but, like my little guy Will says, “It’s okay Mom, chefs make messes and then they clean it up.” Have fun cooking with your kids!!
